"The league is not self-evident for VfB"

Your contract ends in the summer. How is it for you?

This also depends on how the second half runs. If we hold the league, I can well imagine staying in Lucerne, but now it's still too early to give a forecast. Anyway, it's not so that I'll hit myself in the morning with qualms from bed. I am fit — and as long as I can help a team, I want to do that too.

Nevertheless, you will have already thought of the time after the career at your age.

Naturally. I would like to stay in football, but I want to take out to weigh in peace, in which role I feel very picked up.

They are part of the DFB program Management in professional football. So see yourself at the desk as on the lawn?

I do not want to exclude that I still do the coaches. But this course is also fascinating. Since you get good insights — also in the topic of marketing, for example. Whether I want to go in the direction later, but is not set yet. The only thing I can say: Financial board I will not — that would not be an advantage for my club. (Laughs.)

Leave us to conclude the Bundesliga: How do you look back on your career in Germany?

I've got to know great people, played in the most modern stages and made all the heights and depths that can be participated in a career. Championships, but also descend — these were big emotions.

They turned into 2007 with VfB Stuttgart and 2009 with VFL Wolfsburg German Master. What are you who won the bowl with two clubs without having ever played for FC Bayern or Borussia Dortmund?

That's a rarity, and probably that will not happen so fast, if you see how dominant the Bavaria are meanwhile. If I meet Ludovic Magnon (formerly together with Gentler at CFB, now coach of the Austrian Bundesliga SCR Attach, d. Red.), He always talks to me because he did that — but it is not that I am I would breast me.

For the CFB, it is not a matter of course to keep the class in the Bundesliga.

How do you pursue the Bundesliga from Switzerland?

Of course, I look at the games and also have regular contact with the people in Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Berlin. Of course, if it allows the time, I also look at the CFB.

How do you take the situation in Stuttgart?

I am not insider. I consider the situation only from the outside, but I am convinced that the CFB will hold the class. In the preliminary round there were some problems, injuries, corona infections — but the team has the quality to leave at least three clubs behind.

Would that be a success? The preseason has aroused highly higher expectations.

This is often the case with traditional associations. Since the fans quickly think of the past, in which the club was traveling in other table regions, but I think it is not a matter of course to keep the class in the Bundesliga. You just have to see how hard others do. Frankfurt had startup problems, also Playback or Wolfsburg had other expectations — if the CFB is there, you can already see it positively.
